Workday Financials Analyst

The team is seeking someone with accounting and finance operational experience as well as Workday and system configuration expertise. The organization is growing organically and through acquisitions requiring system optimization and business integration work with mindfulness towards controls and compliance. The role will partner strongly with members of the Finance Team and the HRIS Manager (Advisor Group has Workday HCM.)

You will have the opportunity to participate in continuous process improvements within our existing Workday Finance application, including: research, design, development, deployment, monitoring, accounting close cycles, and reporting. This role will support the enterprise with operational and project responsibilities.


  • Troubleshoot business process failures and integration issues.
  • Create and schedule custom reports and report groups.
  • Manage the following WD modules: expenses, banking and settlement, cash management, procurement, contracts, projects, supplier accounts, and accounting.
  • Serve as a strong consultative partner to Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Expenses, HR, and Payroll.
  • Collaborate with Finance business functions to align business requirements, business processes, security groups/roles, and integration design.
  • Gathering business and security requirements, performing system design and configuration, mapping and validating data conversion, creating test plans, conduct testing, create and test reports and providing ongoing support.
  • Develop and maintain Finance training materials and conduct in person or online training.
  • Develop user testing scripts, participate in testing efforts for regular releases and updates, and support users with those changes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of data accessed during daily activities.
  • Support future business needs in areas of Workday Financials, to include implementations and enhancements for Ascend (OCR for AP) and Adaptive (FP&A).
  • Support additional projects as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Finance operations and a BA or BS degree.
  • Minimum 3+ years of Financials system functional experience required (configurations, security, custom reports).
  • Two year’s Workday experience configuring Workday Financials and developing custom reports and operational support
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to consult with and present to senior Finance and Accounting leaders.
  • Proven detail oriented and analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multitask in fast pace dynamic environment.
  • Strong team player and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting functions.
  • WD Pro Financials certification OR (Eco Systems certif – consultants)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with Optical Character Recognition (AP/Ascend)
  • Experience with Adaptive
  • Relevant Workday certifications
