Staff Accountant (Accountant II)

Location:          20 E Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ  85012


The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting Advisor Group’s Accounting function, which broadly encompasses financial reporting and analysis, monthly close process, strong understanding of US GAAP, and maintaining controls over financials reporting. This role will focus on accounting for loan receivable balances.

Keys:    GL Accountant, Fixed Assets, Audit    


  • Ensure amortizable loans are set up and amortized in accordance with terms of the loan documents, including any amendments
  • Coordinate timely funding on new loans by collecting appropriate documentation and approvals
  • Establish reserves on repayable loan balances and monitor the collection of these loans including coordination with legal and operations
  • Respond to advisor inquires on loan balances
  • Reconcile all sub ledger loan balances to the general ledger monthly
  • Develop and maintain reporting on loan activity for financial reporting purposes
  • Maintain system of controls to ensure accuracy of financial reporting and safeguarding of company assets
  • Perform fluctuation analysis on changes on significant variances in monthly results pertaining to loans.  
  • Assist in preparation of requests for external audit
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships with colleagues across business units
  • All other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting is required.

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ combined experience in public accounting or in a large corporate accounting environment
  • Solid knowledge of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with general ledger applications; advanced proficiency in MS Office products, particularly Excel
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who will anticipate challenges and work proactively to resolve issues
  • Team player with customer service mentality

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior financial services industry experience
  • Public accounting experience at a Big 4 or large regional firm
