Instructional Designer


Location:          20 E Thomas Rd Suite 2000  Phoenix, AZ  85012

Summary:

The Instructional Designer will be part of the Education & Training team supporting our home office operations employees at Advisor Group.  This individual will collaborate with our Operation partners to design, develop and maintain effective learning coursework and resources enabling them to better serve our independent financial advisors and their office teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content
  • Work with subject matter experts and peers to identify target audience’s training needs
  • Set instructional end goals and create content that is in alignment
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to develop and measure the learner proficiency
  • Develop web-based performance management tools, e.g. online wizards
  • Assist with the development and distribution of operational communications
  • All other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree education, instructional technology, instructional design or related field is preferred.  High school diploma (or equivalent) in combination with significant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.  Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required. 

Basic Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years’ related work experience designing instructional tools and modules
  • Proven competency in instructional design and development of self-paced eLearning coursework, performance-support materials, and blended solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fostering candid dialogue, and seeking feedback
  • Understanding of best practices and current cutting-edge learning mediums and practices for a well-designed UI/UX for adult learners
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent training-design projects and timelines in a fast-paced and changing environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Articulate Storyline 360
  • HTML programming knowledge a plus
  • Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or other graphic design software used for material development preferred
  • Experience in financial services preferred
