Summary:

Security is critical to the success of Advisor Group.  Given the nature of Advisor Group’s products and services, Advisors served, technology footprint, regulatory scrutiny, consumer orientation and brand reputation, the company is building a world class security program and organization.  As part of that continuous effort, Advisor Group has identified the need for a seasoned Identity and Access Technical Manager.

The IAM Technical Manager is responsible for driving technology planning, strategy, application development, implementation, operations and support for the company’s digital identity and access for all enterprise workforce members.  This role will partner with business leaders, and integrate security standards, risk and compliance requirements, and best practices to mature the IAM program.  

Our selected candidate will have daily interaction with technology leadership across the firm to increase awareness, influence direction, and ensure there is consistent maturation of the security program and the associated defensive posture of the firm.  Additionally, the IAM Manager will have frequent interaction with various technology and cross functional senior steering committees and governance groups. 

The IAM Technical Manager may interact with securities regulators, as well as internal and external auditors to ensure there is a robust security program as well as adherence to regulatory and non-regulatory security and data protection related obligations. 

Finally, s/he is expected to be an active participant in the industry as well as with government institutions to ensure Advisor Group implements the right IAM solutions and remains highly connected from a threat intelligence perspective and influences the industry where possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and engineer a comprehensive IAM enterprise-level program for the firm.
  • Lead various IAM initiatives from architecture through engineering, implementation, and measurement.
  • Direct experience with Identity and Access technologies in the Microsoft ecosystems such as:
    • Active Directory
    • Azure AD/ADFS
    • MIM/PAM
    • LAPS
  • Implement and manage identity and role attestation processes and tools
  • Collaborate with senior management and businesses to define action plans to track and provide remediation proposals to close gaps/needs across the technology organization in respect to IAM.
  • Drive meetings and participate with IT managers and staff to understand Advisor Group's access management processes and tools. Understand areas to improve risk management and recommend corrective actions and new policies.
  • Drive refinement of process documentation to align with regulatory requirements and best practices as noted through organizations such as BITS, ISO, and COBIT.
  • Provide reporting and metrics that ensure the quality of the program's services are meeting business objectives.
  • Foresee organizational impacts and understand the procedures associated with introducing new technologies and processes.
  • Audit, design and implement security technologies, services, and processes that ensure protection from external attacks and internal vulnerabilities. Translate security intelligence and resulting risks into actionable responses and threat mitigation.
  • Design and recommend security policies and procedures for implementation aligned to compliance requirements and firm standards.
  • Ensure Advisor Group is complying with all audit, risk, and regulatory obligations related to identity and access.
  • Manage several security technology vendors. 
  • All other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, high school diploma (or equivalent) in combination with significant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.  Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Basic Requirements:

  • Experience as an architect/engineer/leader in an IAM function in a medium-to-large complex, fast-paced organization.
  • Technical expertise across a myriad of platforms with in-depth knowledge of the tools, processes and methodologies employed to protect in the IAM area.
  • Proven success designing and implementing IAM functions, including:
  • User and system account provisioning.
  • Role based access control definitions.
  • Auditing and recertification of system access.
  • Privileged access management.
  • Governance and operation of IAM technologies.
  • Strong business influence skills and able to shape, define and present a complete and thorough picture of Advisor Group's IAM environment including developing thoughtfully written action plans and clear/regular communication to executive management.
  • Experience managing relationships with security technology vendors, particularly in an offshore setting.
  • Experience managing regulatory relationships and achieving successful outcomes.
  • Current knowledge of regulatory requirements including industry standard security management practices and emerging trends within the field.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience leading technology initiatives/projects and challenging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success in IAM where the function is decentralized and distributed; has shown the ability to lead through influence.
  • Able to act decisively in making solid, informed judgment calls in response to both the technological and critical regulatory environment and the day-to-day business issues.
  • Extremely strong client relationship management and negotiation skills required with the ability to assess and effectively communicate processing capabilities and identify alternative solutions for clients and business partners.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and substantial technical leadership presence.
  • Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos.
