The Financial Reporting Accountant II is a key member of the external reporting team for Advisor Group, ideally with a strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC regulations for the preparation of all SEC reporting and will be the interface with external auditors. In this capacity, he/she will play a leading role in various accounting efforts within the group while developing and managing relationships with key leaders / stakeholders within various business units.

  • Manages external financial reporting, including the preparation of all Advisor Group’s quarterly and annual reporting requirements
  • Prepares footnotes, management’s discussion and analysis, and all other components of the filings
  • Provides technical expertise to the organization on the treatment of complex accounting issues
  • Prepares US GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists in conjunction with quarterly and annual report filings
  • Coordinates and prepares/reviews external audit requests that support the preparation of quarterly and annual external financial reporting requirements
  • Prepares monthly business unit reporting that evaluates actual results as compared to budget
  • Integral in the month-end close process
  • Researches accounting policies/regulatory rules around new products and/or business initiatives
  • Assesses the accounting impact of various business initiatives through detailed understanding of revenue and cost drivers
  • Assists in the company’s forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning processes (weekly flashes, monthly reporting, annual planning / budgeting)
  • Monitors performance of various business units (including variance analyses)
  • Maintains and improves the controls around financial reporting
  • Assists with implementation of new tools and systems
  • Helps to improve current accounting processes through process improvement and/or automation
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships with colleagues across business units / departments to foster an effective cross functional working environment and collaborative spirit
  • Mentor junior team members
  • All other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, MBA preferred
  • CPA designation preferred. 

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in public accounting and/or private industry with a focus in SEC reporting and technical GAAP research and analysis experience
  • Solid knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Expert proficiency in the use of business applications, particularly Excel
  • Experience with general ledger applications (Workday Financials preferred)
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated experience managing multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline-oriented work environment
  • Self-starter who will anticipate challenges and work proactively to resolve issues
  • Comfortable working within an entrepreneurial, “roll-up your sleeves” environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with a customer service mentality

Preferred Requirements:

  • Audit-related experience in a publicly traded environment preferred
  • Prior financial services industry experience preferred (wealth management, investment management, broker-dealer, insurance, banking, specialty finance)
