Summary:

Advisor Group is seeking a Chief Data, Privacy and Security Officer to be responsible for developing a data and information strategy in order to drive business decisions and protect value creation from its data assets and from external data ecosystems. Given the important of privacy and security as they relate to a data collection and usage strategy, this role will oversee all three elements including the Privacy and Chief Information Security Offices.

The selected candidate will be part of the senior leadership team and will develop data procedures and policies, and work closely with various business leaders to collect, prepare, organize, protect, analyze, and govern data assets while ensuring that Advisor Group meets industry best practices. As a transformational leader for a data-driven enterprise the candidate will be expected to deliver quantifiable business value by influencing the organizational culture to put data and security at the center of the business model. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in data governance, security risk management leadership, and information technology systems and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, refine, and operationalize an enterprise data governance strategy, while aligning policies and processes to support data strategy, data quality, and security
  • Create and lead a data governance council of business and technology partners to identify data needs, evaluate methodology, set policies, and ensure common definitions and quality standards.
  • Define, communicate, and govern methodologies and processes for capturing, securing, sharing, maintaining, manipulating, controlling, and purging data and for evaluating and improving data quality.
  • Lead inter-disciplinary teams, maturing and executing the security and privacy programs, improving and streamlining data usage within the company, and driving innovation.
  • Provide leadership necessary to ensure that Advisor Group can leverage data to drive better business outcomes for the firm and their advisors.
  • Lead data and analytics strategy and practice, with an initial focus on agreed, strategic data and analytics use cases and then broadening these use cases over time.
  • Deliver insights to the firm to improve decision making and generate incremental value.
  • Effectively communicate the status, value, and importance of data collection/usage to executive members and staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant applications, big data solutions, and tools.
  • Overseeing the collection, storage, management, quality and protection of data. Implementing data privacy policies and complying with data protection regulations.
  • Oversees all activities related to policy development, implementation and maintenance covering the safeguarding of, and access to, Personal Identifiable Information (PII), financial information and other consumer information in compliance with federal and state laws and privacy practices.
  • Performs risk assessments and conducts ongoing compliance monitoring activities.
  • Provides reports and education to the Audit & Compliance Committees, regulators, and Board of Directors as needed.
  • Oversees the process for breach determinations and notifications to individuals, the Office of Civil rights, and other applicable entities in compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Oversees responsibilities related to the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer.
  • All other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other related field is required.  Master’s Degree is preferred. 

Basic Requirements:

  • 10 of progressive experience in an enterprise governance role or 10+ years of experience in a combination of risk management, information security and IT jobs.
  • 10-15 years' experience in a senior-level management role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Professionalism and ethical behavior.
  • Innovative thinking and leadership with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with contract and vendor negotiations and management including managed services is preferred
