Summary:

The AVP, Insurance and Protection Strategies will be part of the Insurance Consulting Services team supporting independent financial professionals as they work with their clients and prospects in the areas of life insurance and other protection products, estate, business and retirement planning, financial planning and high net worth planning. Additionally, this position will interact with the Advisor Group sales and marketing staff concerning various protection product concepts and sales strategies and help establish the company’s position on these strategies. The position requires strong consultative skills and an ability to assist financial professionals with sales ideas, prospecting techniques, overcoming sales objections, plan design options and determining the best approach to closing sales opportunities, including developing strategies for point-of-sale meetings.

The role will report to Advisor Group’s SVP, Product Sales Support and will regularly interact with numerous departments including Product Sales, Advisory Sales, Advanced Sales Consulting, Retirement Income Planning, Financial Planning, Compliance, Supervision, and Legal. Up to 25% travel is possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct phone calls, webinars and in-person events to promote the use of protection products by educating financial professionals of the importance including protection strategies within any sound financial plan.

  • Partner closely with the Financial Planning team and Advanced Sales attorneys to help develop new strategic resource offerings to newly defined advisor segments. This role will develop sales collateral and implementation strategies as well.

  • Identify and target sales opportunities within Advisor Group’s existing network of financial advisors

  • Assist advisors with strategic sales ideas and competitive product positioning

  • Participate in all scheduled training and educational workshops, events, webinars, study groups, etc.

  • Provide sufficient follow up with event participants in an effort to establish a professional business relationship and ultimately deliver additional sales

  • Interface with Partner Firms and ensure adequate access has been provided

  • Provide advisors with guidance as to best-in-class solutions and resources from our Partner Firms

  • Expand Advisor Group’s presence in the industry by advocating for the resources, tools, services, and support we provide our financial professionals.

  • Accept calls from advisors pertaining to general insurance products and topics, such as: Policy Reviews, New Case Conversations, Underwriting Discussions, Life Insurance Compensation, Platform Questions, Product Solution Options, Business and Estate Planning, Long Term Care Planning

  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, H.S. Diploma or GED certificate + Significant Practical Experience will be considered (Bachelors highly preferred)

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the securities and/or insurance industry with a working knowledge of most securities and insurance product categories, including:

    • Mutual Funds

    • Variable Annuities

    • Alternative Investments

    • Life Insurance

    • Fixed and Fixed Index Annuities

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience promoting protection products and financial planning strategies.

  • FINRA 6/7 securities license required

  • Ability to work with multiple computer software programs, including proprietary and licensed program packages

  • Must be able to effectively work within larger groups and with other departments while being an individual contributor to the Insurance Consulting Services team.

  • Must have a strong understanding of advanced sales concepts involving protection products.

  • Must be very effective in communicating and explaining these strategies. Strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to communicate well in front of a group and to individuals in-person and remote.

  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, achieve goals, set and meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate new ideas and concepts to colleagues at various levels of the organization

Preferred Requirements:

  • Insurance designation

  • FINRA License(s):  63/65 or 66 

  • Experience in Leadership or Management
